Unforgettable Style

Harley-Davidson® motorcycles are never light in the style department, but the Road King® Special is a whole different animal. Combining the nostalgic edge of the Road King® design with the modern touches of Harley®’s latest 2017 models, this bike turns heads. It all starts on the pavement with a set of glossy black turbine wheels that look mean even when the bike’s in park. The bike comes in four different paint jobs, including Olive Gold, Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim, and Hot Rod Red Flake Hard Candy Custom. The easy-open saddlebags and wrapped fenders are color-matched, giving the bike an awesome look from nose to tail. Above, a 7 inch Daymaker Projector LED headlight keeps the road lit, while mini-ape hanger handlebars give that classic upright riding posture while maintaining a comfortable angle for long distance rides.

Major Power and Performance

This bike isn’t all looks, though. Putting major power to the pavement is a new Milwaukee-Eight engine with 107 cubic inches of cylinder displacement. Thanks in part to new engine heads that feature eight-valve technology, the bike develops about 10% more power than previous versions while still holding on to its fuel efficiency. You’ll never find yourself short on power should you need to fly by a truck in the passing lane or get to the front of the pack on a group ride.

Complementing all that power is a beefed up suspension system, new transmission, and excellent brakes. The suspension includes Showa® Dual Bending valve technology, larger front forks, and a rear emulsion shock to provide an even ride on the roughest of roads. The transmission which holds all that power in check is a 6-Speed Cruise Drive® Transmission, which offers smooth, easy shifts every time. For brakes, engineers turned to the extreme gripping power of Reflex™ linked Brembo® brakes so you can stop on a dime for any obstacle in your path.

Comfortable Riding on Any Road

As a touring bike, the Road King® Special is perfectly adapted to long rides across the county, state, country, or wherever else your ambition takes you. The mini-ape handlebars offer an ergonomic riding posture, but they also put the arms at a comfortable height so rides don’t test your shoulder endurance. The seat is extremely comfortable and is also slightly lower to the ground so that when it’s time to come to a stop, you’ll be able to easily plant your feet for a stable base. The dialed-in suspension gives a smooth ride, and if you prefer a softer or firmer ride, simply turn the knob to adjust the suspension tension. Even the footboards and hand grips are just the right size for comfortable riding.
